Stable Moments
Stable Moments Mentorship Program
At Hoofbeats for Hope, we understand the deep, lasting impact that trauma can have on foster and adopted children. Our Stable Moments Mentorship Program is designed to provide a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment where children can heal, grow, and develop critical life skills with the help of our dedicated mentors and the incredible horses who are at the heart of our mission.
What is Stable Moments?
Stable Moments offers a unique, ground-based mentorship program for foster and adopted children who have experienced complex trauma. Every child is paired with a dedicated mentor and a horse for a weekly one-hour session, providing consistent support and a unique opportunity for growth and healing.
The program runs from August to May and is designed to help children develop emotional resilience, trust, and self-confidence as they form healthy connections with their mentor and their horse.
The focus of Stable Moments is on building relationships, fostering healing, and promoting emotional growth as well as the development of critical life skills in a safe and non-judgmental environment. The horses play a critical role in this process, offering a therapeutic presence that helps children process their emotions, learn healthy coping skills, and find their inner strength.

Mentors are a critical component of this program. They provide consistency, emotional support, and a listening ear, helping children navigate challenges. Each mentor completes online and on-site training, as well as a background check, to ensure they are equipped to provide the care and support the children need.
Once mentors and children are paired, each session is tailored to the child’s emotional and developmental needs. Whether it’s through grooming a horse, working on trust-building exercises, or simply spending time together, mentors offer a unique and valuable connection to children who have often experienced loss and instability.
-
If you are a foster or adoptive parent or a guardian of a child who could benefit from the Stable Moments program, we invite you to apply for enrollment. Our program is designed to support children aged 5-18, and we work with each family to ensure a good fit.
To begin the enrollment process, please reach out to our team to discuss your child’s needs and how Stable Moments can support them in their healing journey. Together, we will create an Individualized Plan of Care that helps your child develop the skills and emotional resilience they need for a brighter future.

Our Stable Moments program relies on the generosity of donors to continue providing life-changing mentorship and support for foster and adopted children. Your donation will help cover the costs of running the program, caring for the horses and providing essential resources for the children we serve.
Every contribution makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful for your support. Whether you are giving a one-time donation or joining our team of Stabilizers who give monthly, you are helping to provide hope and healing to children who need it most.

Your involvement in the Stable Moments Mentorship Program—whether as a mentor, donor, or advocate—helps us create lasting change for children who have experienced trauma. Together, we are giving them the tools to heal and hope for a brighter future.
